FUNDRAISER: Round Up Week THIS WEEK!!
Two ways to participate:

1. Round up any class fee. (For example, instead of paying $8 for a class, round up to $10.)
2. Participate in the Art for Charity event.
   • Create a work of art on a 6”x6” canvas board (provided). The art piece is donated to the LEC to use for various fundraising-related activities. Supplies provided or bring your own. No experience necessary. (Please also consider making a financial contribution to the Round Up Week Fundraiser.)

All money “rounded up” during Round-Up week events will be split 50%-50% between the Life Enrichment Center and the Alzheimer’s Association’ Longest Day Campaign.

June Class, Club, & Workshop News:

• NEW WEEKDAY WORKSHOP–Quilling on Canvas: Monday, June 30 (10am – 12:30pm) $50 members/$60 non-members. Supplies provided. No experience necessary. Join award-winning guest instructor Julia Macek & learn paper quilling techniques to transform thin strips of colored paper into a scene of frolicking flamingos! To attend, please pay on or before Wednesday, June 25. Register online here or you can sign up in person.

• BOOK CLUB 2.0 JUNE SELECTION: Read or listen to Blowing the Bloody Doors Off and Other Life Lessons, a memoir by award-winning actor Michael Caine, then join the discussion on June 30 (10am -12pm). You can find the book at your local library or purchase it online. (Note: This memoir may have content not suitable for all readers.

• SATURDAY WORKSHOP–Acrylic Pour: Saturday, June 26 (10am – 12pm) $10 members/$12 non-members. Supplies provided. No experience necessary. Learn acrylic pour tips and practice different techniques to create unique works of art. All levels welcome. (Great for beginners!)

July Class & Workshop News:

• “Christmas in July” Ornaments & Gift tags: Saturday, July 12 (10 am – 2pm) FREE!! Open to the public, but anyone under 18yo must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.) All supplies provided. No experience necessary.
  • 10 – 11:30 AM – Craft a globe ornament featuring acrylic inks and beads.
  • 12 – 2 PM – Make diamond art ornaments, paint wooden ornaments, and unique, handmade gift tags. Create one of each or pick your favorite project.

• “Christmas Cookies & Cocoa” Colored Pencils with Mark Menendez: Saturday, July 19 (10am – 3pm) $65 members/$80 non-members. Supplies provided. No experience necessary, (Great for beginners!) Learn easy colored pencil techniques to create realistic-looking shiny surfaces, shadows, and reflections from award-winning artist Mark Menendez. The techniques learned in this workshop can also be applied to other media like pastels. Mark’s workshops are very popular & seats are limited, so sign up soon! • Weekday Wire Wrapping Workshop Series:
  • Beginning Wire Wrapping with Zan & Jo: Tuesday, July 8 (1-3pm) $15 members/$20 non-members. Supplies provided. No experience necessary. (Great for beginners!)Practice the basics of wire wrapping for jewelry-making while creating & designing lovely, decorative hair pins. Great as gifts or for yourself! Please pay on or before Tuesday, July 1 so that we can prepare materials.
  • Wire Art Jewelry with Debra Joy Peisner: Monday, July 21 (10am – 12pm) $15 members/$20 non-members. Learn how to wrap a stone to make a pendant. Copper wire and stones provided or bring your own stone. Silver wire available for $12-$18 depending on stone size. Please pay on or before Monday, July 14 so that we can prepare materials.

• Summer Pastels Workshop: Saturday, July 26 (10am – 12pm) $20 members/$30 non-members. Supplies provided. No experience necessary. (Great for beginners!)Whether you want to explore a new artistic medium or practice your pastels technique, this workshop is for you. All levels of experience welcome. If you have soft pastels, you may bring them. Please pay on or before Wednesday, July 23 so that we can prepare materials.

LEC News:

• MEMBER SHOUT-OUTS: Shout-outs to our new & renewing members: Rebeccah, Elaine, Marielle, Andea, Sara, Judy, Jennifer, Nanci, Maureen, Neil, & Lia!  We look forward to seeing you at the LEC.

• DONATIONS NEEDED: Lysol wipes; Ziploc bags (snack, and gallon size); large back trash bags

• VOLUNTEER AT THE LEC: Volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts throughout the week and for specific projects. If you are interested or would like more information, email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or let us know in person.

• The Life Enrichment Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth. Poetry and Pastels will NOT meet that day. Both classes will resume on Thursday, June 26 at their regular times.

• RESERVE YOUR SEAT: Sign up sheets are available at the LEC for many upcoming classes and workshops. Make sure you stop by the next time you are in the building!

LOCAL ART SHOW OPPORTUNITY:
“Hello LEC Community! This is Hayley Diemer reaching out, I took classes at LEC 1 or 2 years ago. I wanted to pass along information on an art show coming up in St. Pete called Wild Florida: Beyond the Concrete.

I know there is so much talent at LEC, and lots of artists inspired by Florida ecosystems and wildlife! It is free to submit, artists come free to the show, and guest tickets are 5$. I will have 2 little watercolors in the show, nothing breathtaking, just cute.
